Not Even The Chair
August is the real dead time at the University of Illinois. The summer term is over, students have not yet returned for the fall, and professors and staff have one last glorious opportunity for a vacation. It appears, however, that the Illini Union does not stop scheduling musicians to play at noon in the Courtyard Café:
I must confess to a little trickery here, as I deliberately composed to show a mass of empty chairs, even in the uncropped version. Nonetheless, this poor guy was not singing to much of an audience at all, and he eventually succumbed to an attack of bad taste and lost me. I hope he tries again, now that the students are back, and sticks to the bluesy stuff he was playing that got me interested enough to sit down and take a picture.
