Pi[ctur]e[s] in the sky
Cloud pictures are hard to do well because you have to wait three times over: you have to wait for the right day, the right light, and the right shapes. I have many uninspiring cloud pictures taken because I felt I should, or because I was trying really hard to frame something in a cloudy sky, and then I have this picture, the only one I consider extraordinary. I was at home with the kids while my wife was working, and happened to glance out the window and see dramatic skies in a stunning sunset. After a bunch of passable but unexciting shots the light was about to fade, and I was going to pack it in when Alaska slid past the trees.
I can never be reminded often enough that patience is one of the prime photographic virtues.
